We're on Facebook!

Finally ...

I never liked Facebook way back when, so I stayed away from it. But things change and I recently thought it would be a good idea for us to get an FB page for our writing.

It's taking me just a little while to get to know it, but I find it's pretty much like Instagram and even Google+ in the way it's all set up. Not sure which I like best, but I do like that on IG you can find more people or interests easier through hastags. Maybe I just haven't experimented enough on FB yet.

So, we're looking for more followers or likes to get that page going! We have a standing offer of our eshort story "The Conversation ..." free for those that like our page. I'll probably take that down after a certain period of time, so catch it while you can!

Why reviews are important

OK, I've gotten through chapter two and I don't believe you wrote this! Are you pullin' my leg ? ... Seriously ?  In my opinion, it's great! At this point, you have captured me. I mean the writing is great, but I am equally caught by the mere fact that I know you and can't believe you wrote this! The way you have introduced the characters, the settings and the backgrounds, I am there. In just these two chapters I was able to picture them all. I especially loved your description of how Darcy felt in those first moments on meeting the Bingleys. You really put me in his head, I could understand his feelings.  The flow is great, the characters are alive - I see them, their house, their demeanor. I picture them speaking in my head as I read, like a movie.  The pace is great, not rushed, yet we're three years ahead now and the relationships are evolving perfectly.  I am quite impressed with you, Mr Noe.

That was so sweet of our friend, quite candid too! She has gone on to finish it and still was impressed (hee-hee), but I really loved her "first impressions" of our book, Mr Darcy falls in love. It made me laugh, but it also touched my heart that she would write us what she thought about it. Without reviews, authors can't reach people who would actually like their books but just cannot decide whether or not to take a chance on them. 

A lot of authors have the support of friends and family. But some, like us, don't have family that like to read! Honestly, how do you stay informed without reading? How do you relax without a good book in your hand, at least once in awhile?

So to everyone who has given a review of any of our books, Noe and I thank you so much! We have not been given one bad review, yet we have not personally met a single person who has left an Amazon review on Mr Darcy falls in love, The Sun Also Shines for me, or Mr Darcy and the Space-time Continuum. It is tremendously encouraging, and we can't thank you enough ~

Noe and I have recently been reading our book, Mr Darcy falls in love, along with Pride and Prejudice just for the enjoyment of it. Of course, when writing it, we diligently referred to her incomparable book many times so as to write our story from Darcy's point of view with the same timeline and events.

Here's a section I really enjoy, where the two stories are discussing the same episode, one through Lizzy's eyes and the other through Darcy's. I hope you enjoy it too!

Where have you been?

You may have been wondering ...

Well, if you have been, let me tell you!

We got our book, "Mr Darcy falls in love" in paperback now, as you know, and have been out and about with it. I also checked around just for the fun of it, and found out you can get it at almost any online bookstore you want! (And at various prices too, I might add) There's also a Goodreads giveaway of our book going on till end of Sept, you better get in on that soon! (Scroll down a bit on that page, you'll see the "Enter to Win" button, only for US right now)

Noe has been making various Pride & Prejudice woodart items, you should go take a look at those on his wood blog. Of course, that blog is also needing attention, but soon (I promise) I'll get it ready for people to purchase from ... you can already email him if you want to place an order for a personalized, unique, elegant, extra-special handcrafted piece you just can't do without! ♥

AND Noe already finished the manuscript for his next novel, which I'm currently editing. Of course, this is the first draft, mind you, and you never know if the author will want to go back and make changes, so not sure how long it will take, but we hope that won't take too long either.

We have other stuff in store for the future, so keep coming back...

"Mr Darcy falls in love" now in print

We've been working on this print copy for a little while 
and are happy to announce it's now available!

Mr Darcy falls in love statuette

You know my Noe is a real artist... I've told you that before :-)
He has had this piece done for awhile, but we were waiting to unveil it when we got our Mr Darcy falls in love book out in print. I can't wait any longer, even though the print version will be out very soon, believe me!

The statuette is made using the same picture Noe did for the cover of our book, including the original font. We later changed some of the cover font, but this is still the one for the digital copy, at least for now. One of the nice aspects of the piece is that he's "reversible." That way, he can be displayed on a table and be seen from both sides. 

I had lots of fun playing with the pictures I took, some with my Samsung phone camera, the others with my camera I've had a few years. AND I'm not a photographer -- obviously! But you can see how cool it is.

I do love this version of Pride and Prejudice and have always thought Colin Firth made a very handsome Mr. Darcy, but personally I still don't get the swooning over that scene... but so many do! Take a look at the statue:

No, no ... the green one!

Remember this scene?

In the 1995 BBC/A&E version of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth, there is a scene where Darcy, while being assisted by his servant, is getting dressed to go see Elizabeth at the Inn in Lambton. The servant is holding up various coats, but Darcy insists, "No, no, the green one." 

We really like that scene in the movie (sorry, couldn't find the exact picture of it anywhere), because Darcy shows he's excited to see Elizabeth, but turns out he gets there just after she has received some bad news from home.

 

Interestingly, he seems to have on the same green coat in an earlier scene when he goes back out to see Elizabeth on the grounds of Pemberley, before she has a chance to leave. He's very keen on looking good then too, and that green coat was the perfect choice. Perhaps it was his favorite color ... or favorite coat!

It was for this reason that I wanted to have him wearing a green coat on the cover of my book, Mr Darcy falls in love. But as you can see, our cover has Darcy wearing a purple coat with blue collar instead. Why not the green one, you ask? Well, as you can see, there is already a great deal of green in the grass and trees. I felt putting a green coat on Mr. Darcy would not make him stand out as he should. Of course, that meant I had to pick another color, and giving it some thought, I settled on purple to convey the idea of his wealth. I realize this is a bit cliche, but it was my second choice.

Therefore, if you are a real P&P aficionado, I hope 'you will acquit me of cruelty' in regard to the cover design of Mr Darcy falls in love for that purple coat, but please do give me some little credit for getting Pemberley in the background!

The one we chose for the cover is much better:
